-After failing to qualify, Kyle Petty paid into the B&B Racing team and brought Peak Sponsorship with him. Petty took over driving from Eddie Birschwale in an early caution.
-Bill Elliott, still suffering from a practice crash injury, was substituted by Jody Ridley after an early caution.
-Brad Noffsinger entered into the Daytona 500 but failed to attempt the twin qualifying race.
-Mickey Gibbs was slated to drive the 48 car, but crashed the teams only car in practice. He went on to replace Brad Teague in the Arrington owned #67, but crashed this Monte Carlo during the qualifying race. This team also did not have a backup car, but were qualified for the Daytona 500. After Jimmy Means failed to qualify for the race, Gibbs took on his Alka-Seltzer car and changed the number 52 to 67 since the qualified entry was for Arrington.
-DW's famous Icky Shuffle was after this win.
-Davey Allison flipped his car after hitting a dirt embankment but continued to race afterward.
